Retro Inspiration

This week at Love is in the Details...
I have found some older things that I had and that have re-inspired me.
Some layouts or product that I have created or bought some time ago, inspired me again today.
I find that I go through phases (which I think that most people do when creating) where I really enjoy a certain technique, color combination or product.

One technique I used to do all the time was doodling. I loved creating my own titles or decorations with my own handwriting. I had forgot about this, but these layouts were something I came across in my re-organizing, and re-inspired me to try this again.

This one I used a regular black pen and colored it in with markers.

The handwriting I did with a sharpie fine point marker, BUT now I have Smooch Ink to color in the letters, markers work fine too but the Smooch adds a little shimmer if that's the look you want. I really like the precision that you can get with the brush in the Smooch Ink, but if you have a little larger area to fill the brush works well on this too, you just adjust your pressure to the brush depending on the coverage you would like.

At the time of this layout I just discovered the white gel pen and really liked the way it writes. These pens are very fluid with their ink and it doesn't seem to "skip" the way some gel pens can.

Still loving the white gel pens, but I seem to use it more for a stitching effect.

This paper I have had for AGES, and I really loved it then (must be because I had two pieces) and certainly love it now. Every time I looked at it I wasn't sure what to do with it. This time I jumped right in and new I wanted to "pop" up those beautiful blossoms! Then with the addition of stickles it just worked beautifully. I'm glad I waited for the right time to use it.

I hope that this inspires you to "look back" at what you used to do, to either do it again or update it to something more current and be inspired by you!
